Ujala Asianet Film Awards January 2012


DUBAI WILL WITNESS a galaxy of leading film stars, directors and professionals, with the Ujala Asianet Film Awards, to be hosted on January 6 at Dubai Festival City from 6pm.
One of the most popular film award festivals in India with a big fan-following, Ujala Asianet Film Awards is organised by Asianet Middle East, the most popular Asian television channel among the over 33 million Malayali community around the world.
Ujala Asianet Film Awards also marks the first time ever that the event is being hosted internationally, and is being held as part of the Dubai Shopping Festival 2012, the region’s largest shopping and entertainment extravaganza.
Bindhu Menon, General Manager, Asianet Middle East, said, “The Ujala Asianet Film Awards is the most definitive and prestigious film event for the Malayalam film industry, one of the largest in India. With Dubai being a central hub of our Middle East regional operations, we decided to bring this extravaganza to the city, as a mark of our tribute to the Emirate for their support and to offer our viewers the opportunity to watch their favourite stars.
“The Ujala Asianet Film Awards will undoubtedly be the largest ever show of its kind – both in terms of the stars attending and the spectacular entertainment that we have lined up.”
This year’s Uajala Asianet Film Awards in Dubai will host all leading film stars from the Malayalam industry including National Award-winning actors Mammootty and Mohanlal, Jayaram, Dileep, Prithviraj as well as Bollywood stars Shahrukh khan ,  Vidya Balan, Asin and Jayapradha.
Also taking part in the event are Tamil  actors Dhanush, who shot to global fame with his Kolaveri Di song, singers Hariharan and Shreya Ghoshal, among others.
A New Year’s treat for the estimated 1 million Malayali community living in the UAE, as well as Indian cinema lovers, the Ujala Asianet Film Awards aims to honour film industry professionals for their excellence and contribution to cinema, and also encourage the new breed of young and up-and-coming talent.  Asianet Middle East, through its radio – the AM channel Asianet Radio, is also bringing the parents of seven lucky winners, who will be selected from the listeners, to attend the show.
